McDermott link to property scam
Pings: 1 - Written by Rick Adlam Wednesday, 25 July 2007
Former Australian Test cricketer Craig McDermott has been linked to the sale of Queensland real estate property to interstate investors at allegedly inflated prices. Court documents detail the claims which also involved former real estate property marketeering mogul Chris Bilborough [recently declared bankrupt after failing to satisfy the Australian Tax Office]. But Mr McDermott yesterday rejected any suggestion of knowledge about overvalued properties or links to marketeering groups – and complained of recent "bull- - - t articles" about his business interests.  District Court documents show a company of which he was a director was among organisations sued in 2004 over a property sale in southeast Queensland's Wynnum West. Allen and Kayleen Hyland bought the property in 1998 for $179,950 from McDermott Projects (Nut Tree Grove) Pty Ltd. Court documents state the NSW-base...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Home loan lenders want more of your personal information
Pings: 1 - Written by Rick Adlam Tuesday, 24 July 2007
Home Loan Lenders want the law changed to capture more of your financial details. Here's a test of just how savvy a consumer you are: when was the last time you checked your credit file? For most of us, the answer would be never. Many people probably don't even know there are two credit bureaus in Australia that keep records of any defaults on credit card and personal-loan payments, telephone and utility bills. The home pages of the websites of Veda Advantage (which used to be called Baycorp Advantage) and Dun & Bradstreet have links that guide consumers to where they can order copies of their credit files. It would be worth getting to know more about credit reporting because it is going to be the subject of a lot of debate in banking and consumer circles in coming months. Australia has what is called a negative credit reporting system, where a small amount of data - mostly ...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Home loan rates will be pushed up those that would win your vote
Pings: 1 - Written by Rick Adlam Tuesday, 24 July 2007
Home affordability and your home loan mortgage rates are caught in the  crossfire as  politicians outbid each other to win the election. The forecasts are made in a report from consultants Access Economics to be released today, which also found business fundamentals were "fairly rosy" in Queensland despite expansion problems. "[Queensland's] economy continues to look the picture of near perfect health – capacity is tight . . . and business investment spending is impressively high," Access Economics said in its June quarter report. It found one factor boosting national economic fortunes was recent rain for farmers – notwithstanding southern Queensland's drought. "No. 2 [factor] is a phase II of the China boom," Access Economics' Chris Richardson said. He said a slowdown in China was a risk, but the first year this could take place was 2009. "China's boom isn't end...Write Comment (0 Comments)

After you accept the post you have 48 hours to write something and if you don’t you risk getting banned. The banks have given out loans too much and to easy to people that want to speculating in housing and other project and people even took personal loans to invest. The Asian Tiger was really a small kitty cat and when people saw that the Thai currency went on a rollercoaster ride. Now 10 years later we can see the same thing in China with empty apartment complexes and empty shopping malls. Even Thailand does not listen to what happened before the market is really like a bubble and people are speculating that the price will go up all the time just because some broker tells them that all the apartments in Bangkok are full. Australian housing affordability talks as first time home buyers priced out of the market
Pings: 1 - Written by Rick Adlam Saturday, 07 July 2007
House prices are fast becoming out of for most first time home buyers. Debate is raging in the community about housing affordability and the official statistics show first-home buyers today are faced with fewer choices than their parents. The State Government has offered some mortgage duty relief to homebuyers . In a bid to counter the affordability crisis, mortgage duty will also be phased out over two years and land tax thresholds changed to reduce the cost of buying properties. First-home buyers are already exempt from duty on mortgages up to $250,000, and are taxed at a lower rate on larger amounts. Michael Matusik, property market analyst, says Queensland homebuyers are paying on average 35 per cent of income to service a mortgage, compared to 40 per cent in NSW. Another measure of housing cost is to plot the median house price as a multiple of median incomes. Ove...Write Comment (0 Comments)
