SB 840, a bill that would establish a single-payer healthcare plan for California, finds exciting new ways to bankrupt the state - at the taxpayers' expense! But this time, the taxpayers won't pay JUST in dollars, but in healthcare - when the broad eligibility requirements practically guarantee that the system supports far more than just legal California residents (all emphasis added):
140400. All California residents shall be eligible for the system. Residency shall be based upon physical presence in the state with the intent to reside. The commissioner shall establish standards and a simplified procedure to demonstrate proof of residency.

Coming a few days after a history-making hack of Thailand's governmental electronic-barrier censoring YouTUBE for having ONE disrespectful video of the king there, ("Take your dictatorship and shove it! Give us back our Thai democracy!") about 12,000 Thais rallied to protest government misbehaviour, then marched on ex-Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanond's home in Bangkok.
Then, about half the demonstrators left and the other half danced with the riot police for 3 hours, dispersing very shortly before midnight, having expressed their displeasure very vocally and somewhat violently. (173 rioters injured, 17 police injured and 43 bystanders injured. No deaths.)

Cindy Sheehan has announced her run for Pelosi's seat in the House:
"The Democrats will not hold this administration accountable, so we have to hold the Democrats accountable," Sheehan said outside Conyers' office after the meeting. "And I for one am going to step up to the plate and run against Nancy Pelosi."
And her first step towards this goal was...to break the law:

Today I took part in a discussion about a lefty article basically accusing the U.S. military of breeding serial killers and rapists. The discussion was on the very entertaining site Ace of Spades HQ. Ace links to the original article, so I won't. Also, THIS post is not about that lefty article, it's about one of the commenters on that lefty article. Here's what I posted in the comments on AOSHQ:
I think this comment at the site hosting this article sums up the moonbat problem very well:
"I find all of this information to be extremely alarming, and I agree with you. I don't see how people can argue that military training doesn't produce killers. That's what it's designed to do. What do people think the military is for? To protect our country, yes, and in doing so, killing for it. It's really as simple as that."

Yesterday, members of Congress met in conference to finalize provisions of the 9/11 security bill, which implements the final recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. But as of press time, the Democratic majority was using a technicality to block the so-called John Doe amendment from being included in the bill.

#1: A Rasmussen Reports survey on perceptions of media bias found that Americans tend to believe that the New York Times, Washington Post, and their local newspaper all show a bias in favor of liberals. A plurality believes that the Wall Street Journal delivers the news without bias.
#2: By a 39% to 20% margin, American adults believe that the three major broadcast networks deliver news with a bias in favor of liberals. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 25% believe that ABC, CBS, and NBC deliver the news without any bias.

The internet is a big place. A big BIG place. No one could ever see everything it has to offer. If I may, I'd like to point you towards a blog I recently discovered so that you don't miss this particular drop in the ocean .
The author purports to be a university professor, Democrat, and liberal who admits to being "a conservative relative to the large majority of my collegues."

Washington - Drafted in secret, the once-derailed Senate immigration bill is making a comeback.
But because it is being redesigned with unusual restrictions on debate, the legislation is drawing protests from critics. Not only will the resulting bill ignore broad concerns of immigration hard-liners, it may not even pass.
"The process has been orchestrated by a handful of people behind closed doors, and they are paying a price for that," says Sen. John Thune (R) of South Dakota. "People are feeling shut out."

Mr President, can you imagine life without a skin? Have you ever seen a burn victim, with no clear, functioning DISTINCTION between their body and everything NOT their body?
Its not a pretty sight, Mr President. A human with no skin is like a nation with no borders, open to every opportunistic infection, every anti-American thug and zealot, every pus-producing filth that wants to saunter in!
Even worse, Mr President, pretending that there are NO LIMITS or defining lines on WHAT ISN’T America, destroys any definitions of WHAT IS America. The Constitution MAKES DISTINCTIONS, Mr President. The Constitution is American, for use by and for Americans, those law-abiding, Constitution-obeying humans INSIDE America’s borders legally.
