South of the Equator... in part
Pings: 1 - Written by The World by Road Saturday, 03 March 2007
You could say that this is our first blog entry from the road, although we are not really on the road just yet. As I sit on the deck of the lodge house we are staying at on Malolo Island in Fiji, I am greeted by the smell of fresh air, the sight of crystal blue waters and lush green vegetation and thoughts of our Toyota’s sitting on the dock in Long Beach, CA.  We are in Fiji for a handful of days before moving on to New Zealand. We are here to clear our heads and ensure that they are screwed on correctly. It is extremely relaxing here, especially in the island groups off Nadi where we arrived. But no matter how calm, peaceful and beautiful it is here and no matter how many friendly locals greet you with a comforting “Bula!,” there are always thoughts of the task at hand and the road ahead. The Department of Motor Vehicles in Colorado has to be some of the most i...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Calamari the size of Dinner Plates
Pings: 1 - Written by Dave Thursday, 22 February 2007
Looks like some fisherman (I assume from New Zealand) have caught a squid which is weighing in at around 900+ pounds. According to a squid expert in New Zealand this monster would produce Calamari rings the size of dinner plates. Now that is some good eating. :) Tags: toothfish | Calamari | Anderton | weigh | Squid | POUNDS | Fishermen | fisheries | dinner | biggest | wellington | New Zealand | Life | Chilean...Write Comment (0 Comments)

An internet website war has broken out in Thailand
Pings: 1 - Written by Melissa Moreno Monday, 19 February 2007
An internet war has broken out in Thailand between the living legend Mr Stickman and the new guy in town John Galt. The Asia Bugle wrote this last week Stickman stalked One of the talking points of the week has been the removal of the stickmanbangkok.com site from the net. The reason for its demise is that what many of us first thought was a bit of fun has actually turned very nasty. The notstickman site started as though it was a mickey take on Stickman and I think most of us were mildly amused. I even posted a link to the site here a few weeks ago. However, I did not realize, nor I fear did many people, that this guy is in reality a stalker. And sadly, as with most stalkers, he has eventually become dangerous. He started posting personal information about Stickman and ended up publishing pictures of his co-workers and trying to identify the school were Stickman works. Sud...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Does writing a book consider working in Thailand?
Pings: 1 - Written by Melissa Moreno Sunday, 18 February 2007
Does writing a book consider working in Thailand? No it does not, the immigration Police can never prove that you actually doing it and even if you finish the book you could have written it outside Thailand. Same if you work on the computer from it does not consider work if you do some work for someone else and they will take your pass port copy then problem can start. So if you consider working for some one else make sure they will not tax you in Thailand. If you exporting things from Thailand on a regular basis they can not really nail you down either if you not starting staff and having a office. You can say that as long you work from home and not have staff you not need a work permit. ...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Boycott Nirala Sweets !!!
Pings: 1 - Written by PinDaaL Friday, 15 December 2006
As I was reading the sad story on ATP about an official government car, reportedly in the use of the Syed Safwanullah, Federal Minister of Housing and Works, crushing to death a 6-year old child, another incident which is even more tragic occured in Lahore and surprisingly got very little media attention initially. According to Daily Times:  The case dates back to November 26, when Waseem Sajjad Malik, a cellular phone-company employee (resident of 292/293-B, Punjab Corporative Society), lost control of his car and hit a tree allegedly because of two racing cars near Masjid Chowk in Defence. One of the two cars (LWJ-700) belonged to Faisal Farooq, son of a prominent confectioner. Waseem’s two-month old baby, born five years after his marriage, went through the screen and fell about 20 feet away. Waseem, his mother and his wife were injured. Waseem’s baby went into a comma right ...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Lady Diana's Death: The myths are Shattered
Pings: 1 - Written by PinDaaL Wednesday, 13 December 2006
THE long-awaited report into the death of Princess Diana will systematically demolish every conspiracy theory surrounding it. The 400-page report takes apart the claim by Mohammed Fayed, whose son Dodi also died in the crash, that the British secret service killed her because she was pregnant with Dodi's child. Henri Paul, the chauffeur, while not "blind drunk", was more than three times over the French drink-drive limit, had traces of tranquillisers in his body, and was driving at up to 160kmh before the crash. The investigators came to the following conclusions about Mr Fayed's theories about the death of Princess Diana and his son: The murder plot: The two secret servicemen alleged to have been involved were interviewed, and were not in Paris at the time. The car and Paul were last-minute substitutes to try to trick pursuing photographers. The route was random. D...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Letter to Editor
Pings: 1 - Written by Renee Brown Saturday, 11 November 2006
I am a concerned citizen writing to you out of concerned for the well being of many others who could fall victim to this madness. What I am referring to in this instance is the destruction of a reputation not by your own hand, but by someone else's vengeful feelings.    The type of vengeance that can only be described by rude, hateful untruths that literally ruin a person's self esteem, their reputation as a business owner, and more importantly the respect of being a human not an animal in a cage such as it have been in this case.     The issue that I am quite concerned of not only for myself but for others is of a particular nature. The one I am referring to is on Internet message groups and not only message groups but also on Internet web sites. For the past many months the situation which has come into question is with a group of work at home parents that have begun on w...Write Comment (0 Comments)

North Korea May Test Nuclear Bomb This Weekend
Pings: 1 - Written by Jafo Friday, 06 October 2006
North Korea may carry out a nuclear test as early as this weekend, according to a senior Japanese diplomat. Shotaro Yachi, the Japanese deputy foreign minister, made the claim after talks with US security officials in Washington. Japan has said that it is stepping-up monitoring of its neighbour as a contingency, though it has no solid information that a test is imminent. On Tuesday the Stalinist state said it was preparing to trial a nuclear device, in an apparent attempt to blackmail America into dropping economic sanctions. Some analysts have suggested that a test could come as early as Sunday, the anniversary of Kim Jong Il's appointment as head of the Korean Workers' Party in 1997. Mr Yachi said: "Based on the development so far, it would be best to view that a test is possible this weekend." Japan has two intelligence-gathering satellites and launched a third in ...Write Comment (0 Comments)

AOL Digs for Gold in Spammer's Yard
Pings: 1 - Written by Craig Freshwater Thursday, 17 August 2006
The company believes that notorious spammer Davis Wolfgang Hawke buried over $350,000 in gold and platinum in his backyard, and now the company wants to take a backhoe to the property. Hawke may have precious metal stashes hidden all over the country. Ever since he skipped town after losing a case brought by AOL against him for his spamming activities, a number of stories of buried treasure from here to Central America and Southeast Asia have followed. The Boston Herald reported that AOL believes some of the missing bounty could be in his parents' backyard. AOL won a $12.8 million judgment against Hawke, who promptly fled the country before the court rendered a verdict. Court documents that had been under seal allege Hawke buried precious metals in his mother's garden. An ex-girlfriend of the spammer and neo-Nazi said he made that claim to her. The treasure could be in othe...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Thousands of Israeli soldiers streamed into southern Lebanon on Tuesday, clashingwith fighters in at least half a dozen towns as Israel intensified its ground campaign to dislodge Hezbollah strongholds that have withstood three weeks of aerial bombardment.
