Hardware Independent Imaging
Pings: 1 - Written by Paul DeArment Thursday, 10 May 2007
Hardware Independent Imaging.  The Holy Grail of imaging XP machines.  Right as XP is slowly going out the window, the tools that allow for this to be done are finally being perfected and used.  Of course, since my place of employment will continue to use XP for some time in our production environment, I know that I will have a chance to learn how to do this properly and more efficiently.  This new section is dedicated to the discussion, and revelation of tips/tricks involved with doing hardware independent imaging of windows XP by using Altiris and a few freeware utilities(or ones that cost very little).  The version of Altiris that I developed this procedure on is 6.1 sp2(a little on the old side) but since it works so well, why bother updating it?  At least for now.  Stay tuned, tips, tricks, and frustration will be posted shortly.Write Comment (0 Comments)

There are always many new ideas coming up from popular ideas like YouTube. This time some one has created a market for selling DVD and other Video clips trough Digital DVD marketing options. Basically you use the same format as YouTube and present your cut from your DVD on this website. You can send it out to potential customer and then they can have a look without downloading anything. If you want to market a product you can send the advertisement video you made to customers as well.Write Comment (0 Comments)

Pings: 1 - Written by Melissa Moreno Saturday, 05 May 2007
Your Adsense Account Banned for Fraud Adsense is great money making scheme and it is very popular to webmasters. Google’s Adsense fame has reached a point where it became a great target for fraud. Because of this Google is now very strict in monitoring their Adsense accounts. If you’re doing a legitimate business with Adsense and you do not want your site banned, be careful not to commit any mistakes that might change Google’s mind. The Ways by Which You May be Committing Fraud There are certain criteria that Google sets to identify whether a site is committing fraud. Since Adsense is a Pay-Per-Click scheme, money for partner sites comes from the number of clicks coming form respective websites and pages. Google checks certain aspects of the click that come through a certain Adsense account to check that a site is not guilty of click fraud. The simplest of which is b...Write Comment (0 Comments)

HD-DVD Key uproar
Pings: 1 - Written by Paul DeArment Thursday, 03 May 2007
I'm a fan of Linux. Its a nice operating system that I don't get to spend enough time in. But one thing that has come about recently(and its mostly from people who try to say they are in the Linux community) that has tarnished it is the people that have made a big issue over the HD-DVD key. Someone found a way to crack and find that key, ok. I'm glad that their skills are good enough to find that. And you know, what, there needs to be people that are able to find that key. You know why? To help the industry that made it further their encryption and protection methods. Oh wait, did I just say that? I'm not a fan of DRM at all, I think its one of the worst things to do in the world. But while intentionally find ways to break encryption for hopes of watching a dvd are admirable, it doesn't take a genius to realize why people are throwing a fit about the HD-DVD key. The reason...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Sort of silent install of AIM 6.1
Pings: 1 - Written by Paul DeArment Thursday, 03 May 2007
Working on some stuff for my Hardware Independent Project, I realized that I had to learn how to install aim silently so that no user interaction would be needed.  Pretty easy I thought at first.  I was wrong. AOL never likes to make anything easy, their whole goal in life is to make things as difficult as possible, and doing a silent install of AIM is no exception.   The reason that I had to figure this out is that we include AIM on the default image for all students.  If you have worked with the newest version(named Triton) at all, you know the annoying habit it has of making you download a downloader which then downloads AIM for you.  Why or why can you not download the install file(or zip file) yourself?  Well I'll stop my whining and let you know how to somewhat silently install AIM. Download the AOL downloader to download aim After the download is complete, it prepa...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Microsoft Access and Printer Drivers
Pings: 1 - Written by Paul DeArment Thursday, 03 May 2007
If you ever has a situation where you are using Microsoft Access and then all of a sudden out of the blue, Access stops being able to render reports on the data that you have, or does not allow you to edit an existing report, then you may have a problem with your printer drivers. Even though Microsoft Access is not sending information to a printer and just rendering a document to your screen, Access uses the printer driver of the default selected printer to render this information properly. If the selected default printer has a corrupt driver then Access is unable to display the report, or even edit it. To fix this problem, follow the steps below:(note: directions are for Windows XP, but the same concept will apply to Vista) On a network(such as at work where you use multiple printers) Open the Printers control panel item from your control panel Find your default printer (as ind...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Wordpress Permalink Bug
Pings: 1 - Written by Paul DeArment Thursday, 03 May 2007
A little while ago, I wrote a post for Wordpress and its Permalink blog when custom crafting URLs(such that you only display one category on a page) Well, after some updates, this patch seemed to no longer work. I checked, and they changed the files that perform the linking. The code is exactly the same as before, so there is no security risk with making these changes. The changes are still valid, so I am refering to the previous post(Post found here) The one difference is that the file we want to work with is called link-template.php instead of the old file name listed in the post.Write Comment (0 Comments)
