Led by Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), proponents of the pro-gay provision have stalled the 2008 Defense Authorization Act, which was supposed to be passed by October 1st. They know that this bill is a “must-pass” bill, so if they can get their provision passed along with it, they can finally achieve their goal of punishing the “thought crimes” of pastors, Christians, and supporters of traditional values in America.

This just might be an alliteration maven’s wildest dream…
“Oprah to Join Obama on Campaign Trail in Early Primary States,” was the title of the Associated Press article of November 26.
“Des Moines, Iowa – Oprah Winfrey will join Democrat Barack Obama again on the campaign trail, this time visiting the early contest states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, the candidate's campaign said Monday.”
My first impression was to consider: “Is this Obama wagging the celebrity or Winfrey wagging the candidate?” Although Oprah Winfrey’s public relations schema allows for far more temporal latitude than someone running for President, and despite her already being able to retire hundreds of times over, her enterprises do live and die by public opinion. The last few weeks I have been conducting an experiment. I have been using olive oil in place of butter as often as possible. I came to the conclusion that we are eating way too much butter when I noted that for a two week period, we generally require 3-4 pounds of butter to be in the fridge. Sorry, but that is just too much. Now butter does have its place. I cannot even think of sitting down for Saturdays big breakfast without buttered toast, so eliminating it completely is not my intention.
As much as I like to cook, we are a busy household here where my wife and I both work many hours at our respective jobs and this requires we make some shortcuts for meals. Usually I try to make the main course from scratch, but many times I just use a boxed side dish, such as rice, pasta, potatoes, etc., from a box. This was our first taste of really being in the middle of nowhere. Navigating with a compass and binoculars, we drove 650kms through the Gobi without any real roads. It is an eerie experience, but this was just the beginning and easy compared to Western Mongolia.
