A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Lose...
Pings: 1 - Written by Karridine Monday, 26 November 2007
...somewhere between the microphone and the mens' room... ...just terrible... ...as Dan Rather can attest... Dan is SUING CBS and the bizarre disconnect demonstrated there is only matched by the palpable irony of Dan's stonewalling denial attitude: "THR: But were the National Guard documents authentic? Rather: I believe they are authentic. I believed it at the time, I believe it now. THR: So all the people who have pointed out, for example, that the particular font on the documents didn't even exist back then, they are wrong? Rather: I'm glad you asked about that because, unfortunately, there has been a lot written and said about it, saying they were bogus, they were forgeries, none of which has stood up. But I do want to come back to the documents being just part of the story. The core of the story -- what a journalist tries to do -- is get the truth, or as close to the truth...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Hate Christmas and Fireplaces? Welcome to San Francisco!
Pings: 1 - Written by Hans Gruen Tuesday, 27 November 2007
Satire By John W. Lillpop Just how kooky is San Francisco?  The short answer: Think Nancy Pelosi. In most civilized communities, Nancy Pelosi would be strapped to a padded cell and given insulin treatment every hour, shock therapy every two hours. For security purposes, she would be banned from stepping foot in any local, state or federal government building for any purpose whatsoever, except to execute documents needed to effect her permanent and irrevocable deportation to India or Pakistan. But this is San Francisco, nut ball capitol of the civilized world. A place so bizarre that Nancy Pelosi is regarded as a hero, and is reelected time and time again. Remember that voters in San Francisco made it possible for Pelosi to be within an irregular heartbeat and justifiable impeachment of moving into the Oval Office. Try saying President Nancy Pelosi twice without a barf...Write Comment (0 Comments)

Never Learning from the Past
Pings: 1 - Written by Hans Gruen Sunday, 25 November 2007
By Alan Caruba  The libraries of the world are filled with books devoted to history and new ones are published on any almost daily basis, but if their lessons are ignored, it condemns nations and the peoples of the world to horrors that increase with the evolving technology of death. A book that should be mandatory reading for all the current and aspiring leaders of the world is David A. Andelman’s “A Shattered Peace: Versailles 1919 and the Price We Pay Today.” “If there was a single moment in the twentieth century when it might have been different, this was the moment.” The gathering in Paris that followed the end of World War I and the defeat of Germany, the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires did not merely fail to insure peace; it set in motion the events leading to World War II, the conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, and the tinderbox that is today’s Middle East. ...Write Comment (0 Comments)

A Pandemic of Stupidity: Mexican Politicians
Pings: 1 - Written by Hans Gruen Monday, 26 November 2007
By John W. Lillpop With as many as 38 million third-world Mexican illegal alien peasants dumped on the backs of U.S. taxpayers, one would expect Mexican officials to keep their mouths shut about border violation issues. You know, do not bring up a subject that will expose your own criminality and vulnerability. But Mexico is obviously a land of pandemic stupidity. What else can one conclude after  former President Vicente Fox and current President Felipe Calderon have condemned the building of a controversial barrier between the two countries? Can you imagine-- Mexico complaining about the U.S. and borders? El stupido! In order to resolve this issue intelligently, American officials should pose the following questions to the complaining Mexican officials: * Did the United States violate the sovereignty and borders of Mexico by encouraging 38 million illitera...Write Comment (0 Comments)

TSA To Rummage Through Emotional Baggage As Well
Pings: 1 - Written by Hans Gruen Friday, 30 November 2007
By Frederick Meekins On an episode of South Park taking aim at the airline industry, Mr. Garrison (still a man at that point) invented a mode of transportation where riders had to have a metal prod inserted into their backsides in order to avoid falling off the vehicle.  The response of those enduring such discomfort and humiliation was that it was still less than what passengers had to endure at the airport.  While the bit might have been a bit over the top in terms of propriety, it was pretty much on target in terms of how most Americans feel regarding the bureaucratic procedures implemented in the name of  “transportation security” since September 11th. As fairly good natured people content with the social order even if they don’t like the way the process is handled, most Americans deciding to utilize this form of transportation simply keep their comments to themselves ...Write Comment (0 Comments)
